Volunteering at JBCL

“Each one of us is responsible for all other living beings’ happiness besides our own. As a result, your loving kindness is the most wish fulfilling thing in life, more precious than anything else in the world. That makes for a most satisfying, fulfilling life.” – Lama Zopa Rinpoche

If you like what we do here, you might like to get involved in a more practical way. Our team of volunteers is the heart of what we do, we are so fortunate to have many hands and hearts working together to help run a harmonious centre. If you’d like to be involved, please get in touch. We’d particularly like to hear from you if you can offer some time to help with marketing, housekeeping and leaflet distribution.

New Roles for the New Building

As part of our expansion into our new home, we’re looking for the following volunteer roles:

  • Marketing Manager – creating a communications strategy and maintaining a programme of advertising and promotion of events

In addition, we need regular volunteers from a few hours up to 1 or 2 days a week for the following:

  • Reception/Hospitality Team
  • Housekeeping Team
  • Cafe & Shop Teams
  • Admin Support
  • Class/Event Support Teams

We’ll be providing volunteer support/training sessions every month for new volunteers, regular social events, and in thanks for your help you’ll get full use of our lending library, advance notice of special events, special audiences with visiting teachers and more to be announced as we develop our membership scheme. If you have skills you’d like to share that we haven’t mentioned here, let us know.

The kindness of volunteers is at the very heart of what we do, come and be a part of our team!

Make a Difference

Volunteers are an invaluable part of our Centre’s mission, to help others and provide space for the study and practice of Mahayana buddhism. But you don’t have to be a buddhist to volunteer – just be sympathetic to its aims.

All volunteers have use of our library and audio archive, and receive periodic email invites to special events and information.
