with John Mackie
Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice that improves mental and physical health by integrating gentle movement, posture, breathing techniques and focused intent. It helps us to slow down and frees the body of tension. The gentle, continuous movements generate a relaxed focus and sense of ease. It brings our mind into the “here and now” – a space where worries and distracting thoughts are absent and we experience stillness.
Qigong practitioner and massage therapist John Mackie will give a short talk on the history / philosophy of Qigong followed by a session where he will teach a basic practice that can be done at home that includes postural awareness, happy day breathing exercise, the 3 Dantiens, energy sensing and a sitting meditation to cultivate stillness.
Qigong can be performed by anyone regardless of their level of fitness. A perfect antidote for the stresses of 21st century living.
