Jamyang Buddhist and Meditation Centre Leeds

Jamyang Buddhist Centre Leeds is an organisation devoted to the study and promotion of meditation and Buddhist principles throughout the North of England and elsewhere, whilst preserving the Buddhist Mahayana tradition through study and reflection. We are committed to creating harmony and helping all beings develop their full potential of infinite wisdom and compassion.

Our organisation is based on the Buddhist tradition of Lama Tsongkhapa of Tibet, we honour the work of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and are affiliated to the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT).

Whether one believes in a religion or not, and whether one believes in rebirth or not, there isn’t anyone who doesn’t appreciate kindness and compassion.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Be wise. Treat yourself, your mind, sympathetically, with loving kindness. If you are gentle with yourself, you will become gentle with others.

Lama Thubten Yeshe

Your up and down emotions are like clouds in the sky; beyond them, the real, basic human nature is clear and pure.

Lama Zopa Rinpoche

“When I first walked through the door, just a few years ago, I did not expect the centre to become such an important part of my life.”

Rebecca Freer, Student Nurse

“Jamyang have been a wonderful presence in Leeds for quite a few years now, bringing eminent teachers from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition to the city, running meditation classes and retreats or just providing a calm haven for those who need one (pretty much all of us).”

David Lascelles, Earl of Harewood

“The careful balance between Buddhist teaching and secular teachings is a really important service to the community.”

Ken Lunn, Mindfulness Teacher.

“My first visit; and what lovely and friendly people. Beautiful venue that was easy to find, and I am so lucky to have heard such an amazing teacher. I will be going back!!”

Anna-Mariska Hemens

“Going through a very difficult period in my life…knew I need something different. Enquired by chance and was invited down…going into the centre this last weekend has changed my life.”
