A morning of guided meditation, discussion and teaching on ‘śamatha’ meditation. Śamatha, or ‘calm abiding’ meditation is a way in which a relaxed, stable and highly focussed state of mind can be developed.
It allows us to bring our best to whatever we are doing, on and off the meditation cushion. We will explore and practice several śamatha techniques in order to start or improve our daily meditation practices.

Classes are offered freely at Jamyang Buddhist Centre Leeds so as many people as possible can benefit. We do not get grants and all donations go towards running the Centre. You can donate at the start of a class or online by clicking the link on the right.
About the Facilitator
Jon Mitchell has been a member of the Jamyang community since 2014. He has taken refuge with Geshe Tashi Tsering, Je Tsunma Tenzin Palmo and Lama Alan Wallace, and has a long interest in śamatha. He has facilitated meditation classes since 2016.
