On Friday 6 July we celebrate the official birthday of our inspiration His Holiness the Dalai Lama by offering something light and joyful for his long life and good health.
This year His Holiness is 83! To celebrate and show our love and appreciation we will be sharing some food, followed by a short film and Chenrezig puja (chanted prayers to the Buddha of Compassion).
His Holiness is the Spiritual leader of all four schools of Tibetan Buddhism. He is loved throughout the world for the work he does to bring peace, harmony and joy to all. He demonstrates through his tireless work why many consider him to be an emanation of the Buddha of Compassion.
This celebratory event is open to all who would like to wish His Holiness a happy birthday, whether you are Buddhist or non-Buddhist. Pujas are prayers, mainly chanted in Tibetan from a traditional prayer book – feel free to join in or just enjoy the opportunity to relax and listen.
Please bring vegetarian or vegan food to share and offerings for the shrine are also welcome (for example cake, sweets or flowers).
