Friday 30 June (18.30-20:00), Saturday 1 July and Sunday 2 July (10:00-17:00)
with Paula Chichester (Nyingje)
The focus of this non-residential weekend retreat is the traditional Tibetan Buddhist practice of Green Tara, the embodiment of the enlightened swift compassion of all the Buddhas.
Green Tara is known as the Mother of all the Buddhas as she provides protection, guidance and clarity. Green Tara practice takes us from the imagination of our wishes to their manifestation in the world.
In Tibetan Buddhism, the foremost mental training is the actualisation of the vast mind of bodhicitta, the wish that all beings be free from suffering and harm. When we cultivate bodhicitta and make it the main emphasis of our lives, the rest of life flows naturally. Tara helps to facilitate this process of transformation, from our ordinary mind to the vast mind of love and compassion for all beings.
Over the course of this weekend Paula will offer guided meditations on the practise of Green Tara, a light explanation of tantra and guidance on how the practice works. There will be group discussions and plenty of time for questions.
Tara practice energises and aligns the body, voice and mind to the heart-opening, sublime experience of feeling love for all beings and enthusiasm for virtue, the beautiful mind of bodhicitta.
The aim of the weekend is to relax and enjoy yourself whilst making your life meaningful.
Please book to let us know you will be joining us for either part or all of the retreat. Suggested donation £6 for the Friday evening and £25 for the Saturday and £25 for the Sunday.
About the teacher:
As a young person Paula was deeply touched by the Vietnam war, poverty in America and the destruction of our planet by ignorant greed and environmental pollution. After volunteering in politics, she realised that our values and mental habits are the true source of humanity’s problems. When she met Tibetan Buddhism and Lama Thubten Yeshe she found the antidote.
For the past 40 years, Paula has dedicated her life to actualising the practices that transform greed and hatred into charity and love. She has been incredibly blessed to be able to learn from such great Tibetan Buddhist masters as His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche, Zong Rinpoche, Kalu Rinpohce, Thrangu Rinpoche, H.H. the Sakya Trizen, Sogyal Rinpoche…. and more…so, so many blessings…. and now she will do my best to share these with you!
