In Tibetan Buddhism Tara is the embodiment of the compassionate action of all the Buddhas and ”Praises to the 21 Taras” is one of the practices Jamyang Buddhist Centre Leeds was advised to do by a recent visiting Tibetan Buddhist Lama.
Pujas are chanted prayer ceremonies. You can join in the prayers and chanting from the sadhana (meditation manual) or simply sit, listen and enjoy the blessings. This traditional devotional practice consists of visualisation, meditation and a chance to chant the 21 verse praise in Tibetan and English.
Tara is sometimes called the “swift pacifier” as this practice is also very useful for removing obstacles you may have in your daily life, and in particular for your spiritual path. Although this is quite an esoteric practice, the puja will be explained as we go through and is suitable for everyone. Come and join us for a hearty sing-along!
Pujas are open to everyone so please just drop-by if you would like to join us.
n.b. We are still holding a short Tara puja (30 mins) every Monday (except public holidays) at 12:30pm.
